With fertile volcanic soil, and altitudes up to 2,000 metres above sea level, it's a great place to grow coffee - despite the challenges. We've sourced this coffee from The Green Collection, whose 'boots-on-the-ground' approach to sourcing coffee gives us some of our closest links to coffee producers.
From the Great Taste Award judges: "Some brightness in the cup with a thick consistent crema. There are biscuity undertones and the coffee delivers a dark chocolate bitterness and caramelised sugar finish. There's still some brightness to finish. A really good example of a traditional dark roast."
Ripe coffee cherries are picked, and sorted to remove any defects. They then pass through a depulper, where the felsh of the cherry is removed, leaving behind a sticky mucilage layer. Next, the beans are fermented, and the mucilage layer breaks down, leaving a clean coffee bean behind. The beans are then carefully dried, resulting in a clean-tasting coffee with natural sweetness and complexity.
There will always be people who enjoy the darker style of coffee - it's up to us to give them something that tastes great, which is also responsibly sourced. Whether you're after a bit of old school coffee nostalgia, or just like darker coffee, this is the one for you.

Rich Roast delivers a bold and rich profile with flavour notes of black cherry and cocoa. The Great Taste award judges described it as having a biscuity undertone, dark chocolate bitterness and a caramelised sugar finish - perfect summary of Rich Roast we think! It is a standout example of a traditional dark roast coffee.
This coffee is sourced from Panadas, Tolima in Colombia. Known for its fertile volcanic soil and high altitudes of up to 2,000 meters, this region produces exceptional coffee despite its challenging terrain. We work closely with The Green Collection, who have a "boots-on-the-ground" approach to sourcing coffee, fostering direct relationships with producers.
The Rich Roast undergoes a washed process. After the coffee cherries are hand-picked and sorted, the pulp is removed and the beans are fermented to break down the sticky mucilage layer. This process ensures a clean and sweet cup with natural complexity, allowing the rich flavours to shine in each cup.
Colombian coffee is celebrated worldwide for its rich, well-balanced flavour profiles and natural sweetness. Thanks to high altitudes, volcanic soil and favourable climates, regions like Planadas, Tolima, produce exceptional coffees that are clean and complex. The Rich Roast is a perfect example of Colombia's coffee excellence. Did we mention it is also award-winning? It has won 1-Star at the 2024 Great Taste Awards and 2-Stars at the same awards in 2021.
Rich Roast is a dark roast coffee that emphasises bold and caramelised flavours rather than acidity, which is often associated with strong coffee. While roast intensity does not affect caffeine content, its robust flavour profile provides a rich and satisfying cup, making it ideal for those who enjoy traditional, full-bodied coffee.
Absolutely! Rich Roast's bold and rich flavour profile makes it an excellent choice for espresso. Its consistent crema and dark chocolate bitterness pair beautifully with milk-based drinks like lattes or cappuccinos, as well as for those who enjoy a straight espresso shot.
